BRC served industries north of Clearing Yard.

There is so little carload traffic left that I wanted to capture this information of the industries that are still served by BRC on their mainline along Cicero Ave that went north from the east end of Clearing Yard. Satellite images are embedded throughout this posting. We begin with this local that Nick describes. Nick Hart posted This BRC local out of Clearing Yard switches industries around the Chicago/Cicero border. It operates three days a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) and is usually a late morning departure out of Clearing. It's two main customers that I know of are Charter Steel in Chicago, along with Best Foods, located less than a mile north of where this photo was taken. There's a few other industries that I don't know of. Anyone by chance know the names? On this sunny afternoon, the train is headed back south to Clearing after switching Best Foods. WNYP/NS/Pennsy 1930 Bridge over Allegheny River in Oil City, PA

1.1 Gigawatt Coal Creek Station near Underwood, ND

( Satellite ) I was going to just post this photo as another tandem crane lift . But when I discovered that Coal Creek Station is a mine-mouth plant using lignite, uses a 436 mile DC transmission line to Minnesota, and uses the steam to make ethanol and corn oil; I decided it was worth further research. Branden Kuck  posted 2250s setting conveyer section. Lighting came out good so figured I would share. Local #49 Gerald Duysen   Is this at Coal Creek Station? This photo makes it obvious that it is a surface mine. More surprising, large draglines are still being used for mining. I wonder if they are still made in America. Trail/NS/Pennsy Bridge over Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, PA

( Bridge Hunter ,  3D Satellite ) It also crosses Manayunk Canal, which went around Flat Rock Dam . Robert Wanner posted OK, it's a SEPTA ex-RDG Blueliner special train. But it's crossing the Scuylkill River into Manayunk on the former Pennsylvania Railroad bridge. Now a walk and bike trail void of railroad tracks, at one time it was what may be considered the Gateway to the Schuylkill Valley for the PRR as it made it's way Westward from the Bala and 52nd Street areas. Up and over the hill by the huge cemetery. Slide taken in 1985 or 86 by Robert Wanner. Greg Murray commented on Robert's posting The PRR ran 4910 and 4913 over that bridge in 1950 taking a trainload of Boy Scouts to a Jamboree at Valley Forge. Division Street over North Branch (East Side of Goose Island)

20151212 7457c20, east portal ( Bridge Hunter ,  Historic Bridges , Satellite ) The paint job on this bridge is in remarkably good shape considering that it is supposed to be replaced in a year or so. The safety island allows a rather unique vantage point. The traffic heading west is backed up for blocks because two lanes squeeze down to the one lane of this bridge. But the traffic lights provide gaps in the eastbound traffic. When I go to Goose Island, I take Division Street east from I-94. But when I leave, I go south on Halstead. It is a wide safety island, but it is still kinda creepy taking pictures there as traffic goes by. Note the three big compression members branching out from the trunnion bearing just below the surface. The three exposed racks are typical of Chicago's first generation of trunnion bascule bridges.
